Once I saw the cover of this book I found it very interest, so I decided to read about it a bit and I thought the plot sounded rather interesting as well. So as I begin to read this I was getting into it, it was pretty good. I mean it got me to continue reading so of course that's a nice plus.
But then ... I continued to read this ... what a mistake. Which to be honest annoys me because this could have been pretty good.
This is about a mind reader Cameron and how she is force to hide her mind reading from the world. And her grandmother which can also read minds and has always made her feel like a freak. She's living with her because her mother abandoned her when she was only a child and her father is supposedly dead. At some point she meets this "hot" guy Lewis that - is also a mind reader - convinces her to go with him to a place where she would be able to learn how to control her abilities and live among people like her with the help of Aaron, the owner of the school/mansion. Cameron has a few friends that truth be told she didn't even get along with for the most part. Just about every friend she has are shallow by the way.
Once she meets this guy Lewis she has the instant connection with him, for the love of God, why are they in love so damn quickly. They just met!! And they practically don't know anything about each other!!! An instant connection that very quickly grew into both of them falling in love. The instant eye connection that keeps her from thinking properly and freezes her in place, all she sees is him and blah, blah, blah. Really?!!?
On top of that the constant description or talk about how rich Aaron was and how he could have gotten all that money and ... really?!?! I wanted her to shut up!!
The only thing I did like about her was those small moments of standing up for herself. Which don't really last much to begin with. I didn't care about those moments when she would argue with Lewis and decide that she didn't want to be with him anymore, yet not to seconds later she had her tail between her legs after the idiot again.
I understand that a character should have questions, that's part of the story and plot, we should be able to find answers to said questions with the character, but I really didn't felt that Cameron even tried to answer her own inner questions. I think she was a lot more focus on Lewis than anything else, in my opinion. And I don't feel like there was any character development in any of the characters. It just felt like a lot of rambling and not enough showing. If that makes sense. I couldn't relate to Cameron or any of the other characters, the story was pretty predictable and I'm sometimes fine with that if you know how to write it in a better way.
Yes there were points of the story that got me interested, but then they just limped away. It just got to the point where I just simply wanted it all to end. I tried to like it, but at the end of the book I couldn't and I didn't care to try anymore. I'm not interested in reading any more in the series. ^.^
