I will start by saying that I AM the type of reader to judge a book by it's cover, so when I saw this cover I thought, "Well hey, it's rather nice looking let's see what it's about." As I began reading it I found that I did like it. It started off interesting enough to keep me reading.
I soon found out that I was going to regret reading this book.
For one - and I'm getting this out of the way - I can't stand "Instant love" in a book. I HATE it with a passion. So guess what ... this book has that. Great, just my luck. >={{
I hate when the main character has this totally uncalled for connection with - and of course - the hottest guy in the freacking school. I hate when EVERY freacking time they LOOK at each other, she forgets what she's saying, or she can't breath, or every thought in her mind just flutters away. It's FREACKING annoying to no end. I'm like girl JUST SHUT UP!!!! I can't stand it! And on top of that every time her "crush" touches her she looses control of her abilities - in this story for example - or she get's weak or whatever. I can't stand that type of instant love.
I know from the title of this book that instant love would be pretty much the base of this, but well I wanted to give it a try anyway. I thought that it would have been something that I could handle if the characters were likable.
No such luck.
All through out the book everything is way to repetitive. She keeps explaining the same dumb thing over and over again, and for the love of God why the freacking heck is she ALWAYS so confused! Confused about the magic, confused about that silly guy she had a crush on, confused about her damn feelings for said silly guy, confused about the very things she was JUST explained!! Really ... really. It was just way to annoying! This girl is one freacking clueless main character it's ridiculous. I knew most of the stories "plot" in the first few chapters. There wasn't any real character development - actually there wasn't really any likable character to begin with. The boys of this story are ridiculous - especially the "crush"
This is about a girl that supposedly doesn't know magic exists, right, yet she's constantly having her "electricity" - which is her magic - acting up since the very beginning. What sense that's that make, please tell me 'cause I sure don't know. She continues to say and consider herself crazy even when there's obvious evidence that her "electricity" is freacking magic. I mean the whole freacking school is about magic and how to control it. Yet she doesn't notice any of it, it's all around her and she doesn't notice - at first of course 'cause as soon as she stops being so self absorbed she realizes that every one around her have been using magic all along. O___o Seriously ....NOT ONE OF THE STUDENTS COULD TELL HER THAT SHE HAD MAGIC!!! Oh for the love of GOD!!!!
And the sheer ramble the main character gave us about exactly EVERYTHING. She explained everything. If something happened a few sentences ago, the main character explains it again, just in a few different words. I mean come on, how freacking clueless does the author think we are that she had to have the main character keep explaining things that just happened.
In no way shape or form did I give two s*&ts about this story or the damn characters, they were all so annoying and unbelievable that it pulled me out so fast. I yelled at most of the story in frustration because half the things that happened, all the relationships and all the comments and conversations in this book were just down right infuriating.
Another thing that I just can't stand in books it's the constant glorifying of the supposed "crush" This girl - Eden the main character - is constantly describing Kiran - the "crush" - as beautiful, and good looking and his beautiful eyes and so on. Just the sheer craptastic ramble about how hot this guy is seriously had me wanting to hit something!
Kiran is clearly an ass, since the very first moment he showed up, from the moment he interacted with Eden and she still is attracted to this jerk. Really?!!?!?
I think it's safe to say I was bored, irritated and frustrated out of my mind whilst reading this book. People criticizes the grammar and spelling, and well yeah that's bad, but I don't mind to much of that if the book and characters were actually likable.
So - again - it's pretty obvious to say that I will not read any more from this series and I thank God that I didn't finish this book either - granted that I did get pretty close to the end but by then my brain had turned into mush, so ...
No I do not recommend this book. But alas it's your choice. ^.^
